Lenten Devotions 2022

Welcome on this Lenten journey!
Lent takes us on the path of remembrance, reflection, and repentance. When we open ourselves up to the invitation that God sends to us, we may find that we are transformed and deepened in faith and love.

Each week we invite you to really spend your week meditating, praying, using this as a guide on this journey… take some quiet time throughout the week to be center yourself, putting God IN that center, with all of the hope and grace that Jesus’ resurrection brings.

LENT WEEK THREE!
What do we celebrate this week? Lord God Almighty, Creator and leader of all creatures, we pray for your great mercy, that you guide us towards you, when we cannot find our way.

As we pray this week, pray for all of the ways we can draw closer to God, pray this week for strength and guidance in all areas of our lives. Allow us such strength and protection in all danger, and carry us through all temptations; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We celebrate you, Father, and all of your wonder! Amen.

What do we lift up to God for help in prayer this week?
This week we again ask for God to protect all of His children who are caught in the middle of War and suffering. We also add to our prayer those who do not feel your presence as we do. Pray that something will touch their hearts and that they will be reminded of God's INFINITE love for them, and that they are not really alone.

Pray for those who are scared when things around them are not as they once were, but changing in a way that makes them sad and scared. Pray for the needs in your own life, as well. Spend as much time as you are able in prayer for help, healing, and love.

Scriptures for the Week
1 Peter 2:4
Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and

Isaiah 28:16
therefore thus says the Lord God, see, I am laying in Zion a foundation stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: ‘One who trusts will not panic.’

Deuteronomy 32:1-5
Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; let the earth hear the words of my mouth. May my teaching drop like the rain, my speech condense like the dew; like gentle rain on grass, like showers on new growth. For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God! The Rock, his work is perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God, without deceit, just and upright is he; yet his degenerate children have dealt falsely with him, a perverse and crooked generation.

Matthew 7:7-8
‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Week Three: PHOTO OPP:
What do you see in God’s Creation that will make you reflect on the wonder that is God. Each week try to capture a photo so that you can go back and look at it when you’re having some just you time with God, or doing your Lenten Devotions, or whenever you need to look at something that God has created and not something man-made.

Rocks Show God’s Dependability, His Handiwork, and Eternal and Dynamic Nature Rocks, which are reliable and strong, show us that God is trustworthy and dependable. The Bible has called rocks “living stones”, cornerstone, and referred to rocks as a foundation.

The wonder of God’s creation is in every rock. From tiny pebbles in a creek to huge boulders that make up a mountain. Rocks also reflect God’s eternal yet vibrant nature. The 3 different types of rocks on Earth all have long-lasting durability yet are formed through dynamic processes. Rocks totally set the history of our planet in stone.

Take your photos this week of rocks in nature…
Put them together with your photos of the sunrise and water from our first two weeks. Enjoy God’s creation and remind yourself how beautiful God’s work can be.

Families:
This week talk about rocks and water and the sun. see what they’re learning in school, and then read them genesis where God created it all, or a storybook form if they’re younger. Talk about how amazing God is to have created all of this for us! And talk about how we need to take care of it!
