YOUTH MISSION WEEKEND!!!!!
DO YOU NEED HELP WITH SOMETHING AT YOUR HOUSE/CONDO?!?!?!!
Rockport’s Youth will help you! We will be spending an ENTIRE weekend together for fun and mission! Friday the kids will have a fun night, Saturday they will spend the day in mission, and Sunday we will have a Youth Sunday where they will bring worship to you! We will also be honoring the graduates on that Sunday (July 23rd!)
On SATURDAY, July 22nd, we will be coming to you to help you out with misc. tasks you may need done! You will be able to sign up ahead of time for 35 min increments for things like pulling weeds, washing windows, putting things up in your attic, vacuuming and dusting, etc!
FREE OF CHARGE - this is our way of giving something to YOU, our church family.
PLEASE NOTE: We will have many people to get through - SO if you are in need of help and we cannot fit your need into a 35 min window, we will come to you another day and help you out! Please let us know of your need so that we can assist you!
SIGN UP sheets will be out beginning on June 17th and every Sunday through Sunday, July 15th. Please call the office or email education@rockportumc.org with any questions!
GRADUATES!!!
If you have graduated from high school, college, or trade school, Join us on July 23rd for Youth Sunday to be honored! And CONGRATULATIONS!
JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE:
Please join Nancy Geyer on Sundays from 9-9:45am THROUGH JUNE 11th. You may go to lesfeldick.org to view and read this study if you are not able to attend in person or at that time.
SAVE THE DATE:
Engage team ministry folks will be meeting on June 13th at 11:30am in the meeting room. Please mark your calendars.
MEN’S GROUP:
The Rockport Men’s Group will meet on Thursday, June 15th at 6:30 pm for a potluck cookout. There will be a great meal and time for fellowship. Hot dogs, sausage, and hamburgers will be provided. Bring a side dish or a dessert. Come and enjoy this special time together!
At the May meeting Jon Gray from Trials for Hope said the program would benefit from Flip Top Canned goods of meats and Spaghetti’Os, as well as tents for the unsheltered. So, it would be great if everyone coming to the cookout could bring flip top canned goods of meats and Spaghetti’Os and put in some cash to buy some tents.
ROCKPORT MUSIC MINISTRY:
Thank you choir members, special music and Ramblers! Your music ministry and fellowship this season is truly a blessing. Choir will be on break, following today, during the summer and will return after Labor Day on September 5th. There are special music opportunities for anyone for Summer Sunday worship. Please sign-up on the bulletin board for any Sunday this summer to do special music. Contact Susan Shick, Music Director/Organist at home, 440-331-5718, cell,440-364-9672, or the church, 440-331-9433 with any questions.
… “In our Lives, Lord, be glorified today” “Come and see, I am the way and the truth”, said He “Follow me, come as a child, O come and see.”
JOIN US FOR OUTDOOR WORSHIP:
Rockport is blessed to have a beautiful hidden gem, our outdoor sanctuary overlooking the Rocky River Metropark's. From May 28th through Sept. 3rd, we will worship outdoors (dog friendly) at 10am (please dress accordingly.) In the event of rain, we will move indoors to our air-conditioned sanctuary. EMS remains at 8:30am in our indoor chapel.
BOOK CLUB:
Our next book discussion will be on Monday, June 19th @ 7:00pm on the church patio. The book we will be reading is “Left on Tenth: A Second Chance at Life” by Delia Ephron. Playwright and screenwriter Ephron’s memoir covers some grim territory: losing a spouse; mourning a cherished sibling (writing partner Nora, who died in 2012 and confronting one’s own mortality (in 2017 Ephron was diagnosed with the same cancer that killed her sister.) But this endearing read is anything but depressing thanks to vibrant, witty storytelling, a second chance at love and the hovering hope of a happy ending right out of a movie, like the Ephron’s’ “You’ve Got Mail”. Hope to see everyone on June 19th for fun, fellowship and discussion.
ALPHA BIBLE STUDY:
Consider joining us for Alpha Bible Study,Wednesdays, from 6 -7:30 pm thru July 19th. The format of Alpha is that there is a dinner served, short devotion time, view a video on the scripture, and then small group discussion. Thanks be to God and thank you to everyone for your prayers and help and food! We had 27 people on Wed. for Alpha. Currently asking for prayers and any ideas for the next step / program to do after Alpha is over on July 19. If you have not attended, please plan to attend when you are available. It is a lot of fun with good food and a focus on Christianity. The Alpha is set-up that it would be fine for someone to drop-in on a session at any time. There is still a need for food for the following dates: July 5, July 12, and July 19. Please email Sara Chapman or sign up on the bulletin board if you can help with the food. Thank you very much to everyone who has helped with the food, set-up, and clean-up. It is such a blessing to be bringing new people into Rockport Church to focus on Jesus.
COFFEE HOUR:
Please consider hosting coffee hour and sign-up on the bulletin board. Fellowship is so important to the life of the church and why not have a little snack at the same time!
